To promote the show on our radio station we created the following promotional commercial. We'd love to hear what you think. The short one (45s) is the one we're playing on the station. The extended version (1:20) is for Internet release only. :)
That's my good friend Geraldine doing her best Irish accent. THANKS GERALDINE!!!
Oh yeah, I know Trainspotting was set in Scotland. Heh, I figured the Irish accent fit since there is such a strong Irish co-operative movement.
Here's our script:
Choose strife.
Choose a dead end job.
Choose a career with no prospects.
Choose working for a faceless corporation.
Choose to support a status quo where you and your friends end up at the bottom for generations.
Choose some meaningless contribution to saving the environment, recycling your yogurt containers while driving your SUV across town to find better gas prices.
Choose to contribute nothing to your community while complaining about the riff-raff making you uncomfortable when you leave your gated subdivision to visit WalMart for your lawn fertilizer.
Choose to show your children how they too can sell their souls for what FOX news calls comfort, safety and security. Teach your children that they have no potential to change anything.
Choose your future.
Choose strife.
Now why would I want to do a thing like that?
I choose not to choose, strife. I choose something else. And the reasons? Who needs strife when you have alternatives…
I chose life.
I chose to be co-owner of an organization that promotes a positive connection to community, the environment and a peaceful future for all of us.
I chose to support a democratically run economic system that holds promise for a sustainable society.
I chose the co-operative model, an organizational structure that millions upon millions of people have chosen to help meet their social and economic needs for over 160 years.
I chose life.
Where’d I learn about the Co-operative Model? Well, I listen to Each for All: The Co-operative Connection. Every second Friday on CFUV 11:30am.
