Bike Co-ops

Today's episode of Each for All featured bicycle co-operatives! We were lucky to have in the studio Triane Tambay, who works and organizes via both Recyclistas, Victoria's collectively-run community bike shop, and the Bike Lab Society, an associated youth education program.
After kicking off with Toronto-based MC Abdominal's song "Pedal Pusher", we jumped right into a fascinating interview with Nancy, a member of the staff at the Urbane Cyclist, a worker-owned bike shop in Toronto. This interview was followed by a live discussion with Anders, a mechanic and apprentice at Natural Cycle, which is a worker-owned bicycle repair and courier company in Winnipeg. These two interviews were complimented by input from Triane, whocontributed her knowledge of local efforts at collective bike projectsas well as of bicycle culture.
Overall, it was a great episode with thoughtful insights intosustainable economic alternatives and the distance that a love ofcycling can take a community.
