Yasmine Kandil, a PhD candidate at the University of Victoria, talks about her experiences with applied theatre, including the course she teaches through the Intercultural Education and Training programme with UVic Continuing Studies called Theatre.Community.Change. and her work with the Victoria Immigrant and Refugee Centre Society.

Youth and Global Justice

Our guest is Manda Ann Roddick, a PhD student in the Department of Sociology and a recipient of a 2010 Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship. The Vanier Scholarship will support Manda’s doctoral studies which will focus on youth and global social justice. During her MA, Manda travelled to Ghana to conduct research and to Mexico to participate in a course on Critical Development Studies. Manda has also volunteered with a variety of youth organizations in the past decade and these experiences contributed to her growing concern over youth involvement in international development.
